Searching Catalogue Records

  1. Select SEARCH>Catalogue. The Search Catalogue screen is displayed

  2. Select the field you want to search from the list of searchable fields displayed in the Where: pop-up list

  3. Select a comparison operator from the middle pop-up list (default for text searches is ‘Like’)

  4. Enter search criteria in the data entry text box

  5. Where the field searched is associated with a controlled list of terms or authority file you can optionally click on Thesaurus icon to open the relevant authority file and drag and drop terms from the thesaurus into the data entry field on the Search screen

  6. Check the Case Sensitive box if required

  7. Select a Boolean Operator and repeat steps (2) - (4) to enter further search criteria

  8. The system displays search strategy in Structured Query Language (SQL) in the grey SQL window at the bottom of the search screen

  9. Select the field you want to sort the search result by from the Sort Order: pop-up list

  10. Click SEARCH or press the [Enter] key

  11. The Search Results Screen displays a summary list of results sorted by the selected sort order field

  12. Double click on an item to display the full record
